Brajesh Singh on in reply to: [Resolved] Reasons Not to Migrate to NING #48712

    Hi Dianne,
Thank you for the question. It is a good one.

Both have their pros and cons.

    NING Pro:-
    – Low maintenance, less worries about updating
    – Less cost for smaller communities
    – Has good set of features
    – probably better security as their code is closed
    – seamless integration between the features they provide

    NING Cons:-
    – Lack of flexibility. If you need any feature outside of their defaults, it is not feasible
    – Plan limitations on storage/number of users
    – Limited customizations(themes available via their site)
    – Leaves a lot to be desired

Let us see the pros and cons of using WordPress as community platform:-

    Pros:-
    – Infinite flexibility:- You can extend the community as much as you need.
    – Huge Eco system:- You get benefit from the huge eco system as well as developer availability

    Cons:-
    – Lack of the features available with current community plugins
    – A lot of effort needed to create seamless experience
    – High maintenance cost & effort:- When using multiple plugins, the whole platform becomes brittle as anyone of them can break the whole site.

The main problem with community plugins with WordPress is you need to devote a lot of time developing/managing a community software than you put on Growing your community/idea.

If you can hire a developer, then I will definately recommend going with WordPress dues to flexibility. If you have a smaller community and your needed feature set is matched by any of the hosted solutions(there are many other than NING), you can go with them.

PS:- If you stick with WordPress this year, we are hoping to solve the frustrating experience users have while creating community with WordPress. Expect a solution by September-October this year.

    Regards
    Brajesh

    Hi Nik,
I will have a demo setup for you to test the 1,2. We have a holiday tomorrow, so I will either put it today or day after tomorrow and link you.

    3. yes, that filter will allow you to do that.

I will also re-check with latest BuddyBoss platform to be sure.

    Thank you

    Hi Nik,

    1. Please make sure you are using latest version of BuddyBlog Pro/BuddyBlog Groups.

    2. Please re-check the settings and verify that the settings does not allwo users to publish. I have verified it on BuddyPress group.

    3. I have added a hook to customize/override the behaviour if you do not want to allow group admins. I have added in the plugin what feels natuarl(allow admins to publish if they can control the publish state).

    The filter is ‘bblpro_default_post_status_for_user’

PS:- You may want to remove any custom code to check it.

    Regards
    Brajesh

    Hi Carsten,
Thank you for sharing the details.

If you can ask WPS Hide Login team if there is any function to check we are on their login page, then I can certainly update the code to skip that page.

    That will fix it.

    Regards

    Hi Arnab,
    Thank you for the question.

I will suggest contacting BuddyBoss support for it as they provide their own moderation system.

Brajesh Singh on in reply to: BP Simple Front End Post saving as Classic #48694

    Hi Chris,
    Thank you for the questions.

    1. Are you using it wit BuddyBlog? BP Simple front end post does not have any direct integration with BuddyBoss.

I am assuming the code/plugin that is using Simple front end post is setting post status to pending.

At the moment, Block editor support is very limited and it needs 3rd party plugins to put it anywhere except the default WordPress post editor, we are unable to assist you with it unless WordPress makes the Block editor available like it has done with the classic editor.

    Regards
    Brajesh
