You are most probaly using a custom theme or plugin which is adding it. BuddyPress does not add any green do.
Please check your plugin list and contact the relevant author.

1. I am hesitating about it since the future version of BuddyBoss might break it and will make the plugin unmanageable. I will be looking into it and will most probably share some code snippet if it is allowed.

BuddyPress is not able to detect faces or edges. you should use an image where you can crop properly.

You can do the following to hide details about a user’s online status.
1. Who is online widget:- You can remove it if already using.
2. Use css to hide last active time.
