No, the anonymous activity plugin is not compatible with BuddyBoss theme. It may work partially but it is very difficult to filter their email notification(they did not provide any filter earlier, not sure about now). That’s why we decided to drop the support around 2 years ago.

There is no simple way to achieve it as the 3 specific roles are hard coded in BB/BP.
This is doable but the time and cost involved makes it difficult. You will probably need to hire a developer to achieve it.
