Thank you for taking your time to think about my issue 🙂
I am using groups a lot for that this BuddyPress site, so I don’t think that is a good way to go.
I might try to use the new-ish WooCommerce Extension “Teams for WooCommerce Memberships” (https://woocommerce.com/products/teams-woocommerce-memberships/) and connect it some way with WooCommerce BuddyPress Integration (WC4BP) from ThemeKraft.
Do you have any experience with that?

It works now after following your directions, but unfortunately, there might still be a problem with BP Events Calendar! When I fill out the form and choose a group, I can save the event but only as a draft. If I edit the event from the backend and saves it there without any further editing, then the event is ok.
It is definitely not a theme issue, so I might try to contact the developer I’m afraid. In worst case, I might return to the other events plugin Events Manager although I don’t like it as much as The Events Calendar.

Maybe a rookie question, but how do I remove the bbpress folder and bbpress-functions.php the best way? I mean: if I just hit delete then it will be re-added when there is a new update of the theme, right?

I forgot to mention that when I rename the “bbpress”-folder in the Community Builder theme then bbPress is showing the translated strings (danish for my part). When I don’t rename the bbpress folder then the translation doesn’t work.
I hope anyone can explain why the theme seems to mess up with bbPress…

Ok, I get that. I would like that as well, especially your first point about “all subgroups share the same documents, the same course etc.”. I would like to give the admin of the parent group the possibility to write a message to al members of the group + sub groups.
If you find a solution please let me know 🙂
Speaking of point number 2 “each subgroup has its own forum”, then it is possible with the group category solution.
