Hello and thanks for your explanations.

But at the end you say “(I am not 100% sure about Group tabs Pro as the visibility can be overridden).”
    (I’m using that plugin)

Can you find a way, or maybe make a new plugin, that would to bring a possibility to put such “public links” in the BP primaray nav ?
Like your plugin “Link page to group”, but with the ability to set a link (or, even better, several links) and not only a page.

Because I need to keep some groups private, but to allow any user to see at least some informations about the groups. That’s why I use “Blog categories for groups” (like here : https://autistance.org/category/group-blogs/.
This way I can have several posts for a group, to provide some general informations to anyone about the activities of the private group.
For example, here I have put the “Group Blog” as default (landing page) for the group : https://autistance.org/groups/org-aut_allianceautiste-org_orgintl_onu-cdph/

I thought about maybe using “Link page to Group” plugin for what I want, but it would be complicated and there are no categories and I have no clue about how to set a “category archive” (or, more precisely, the “blog” permalink for the group) as a “page” (or even as a post).

Give that there are ways to link to put a link to a page by using a “hook”, then there should be a solution. Maybe with an improved version of Group Tabs Creator Pro (if the current one does not provide that feature, which is not clear), or maybe (less “elegant”) with an improved version of “Link page to Group”, like “Link Page/Post/Group Blog to Group”…

    Thanks a lot…

    Hello and thanks.

In the case of the Group Blog categories, anyway these posts are also visible outside of the groups (ie from the regular list of posts (like here https://autistance.org/category/group-blogs/), even if they have been created in a private group.

When there is a “Link page to Group” active in a group, even private, the tab is always visible (as you can see here https://autistance.org/groups/dep-web_improvement/) and there is not even a way to control that (except maybe by adding it in BP Group Tabs Creator Pro).

This means that it seems technically possible to put a tab at least link to a page which is external to a group.

Regarding the group blog posts, I understand that it might be impossible or difficult because even if those posts are visible in the normal WP posts, there they are all mixed (without relations to groups), and when they are visible in the groups, the permalink is different (it includes the path to the group) which probably is the problem.

BUT for my group tabs “Documentation” which are leading to custom links having nothing to see with the content of a group (exactly like the “Link to page”), I would like these tabs to be visible in te private groups for anyone (like it’s the case with “Link to page”).
It would be very useful to have this plugin (BP Group Tabs Creator Pro) able to give tabs (links) to the users who cannot enter a private group, who are legitimately frustrated and to whom we can give some information relevant for the subject of the group, even if they are not members.

Additionnally, in the settings there is :

    Tab Visibility
    Select / Deselect All

Do Not Modify(only applies when modifying existing tab or subnav)
    Anyone
    Logged In
    Members Only
    Group Admin Only
Tab will be visible to these users when they visit the group

Which should imply that if I check “Anyone”, then anyone should see the tab (this is simply logical). Here is the problem…

FYI in Group blog categories there is a typo error and probably a chunk of phrase forgotten at the end here :
Which capability can edit post in backend(WordPress Dashboard)?
    publish_posts
User with these capabilities will nto be redirected to front end editor for editing post., user will not be able to edit their own post.

    Thanks

Hello, thanks a lot, I will analyse your answers.

For now my problem is with the tabs (for the blog), with Group Tabs Creator Pro.

I tried many settings, but I cannot find how to see the “Blog” tab for logged out users even for private BP groups (which is what I want), please see here : https://autistance.org/groups/org-aut_autistan-org_s030000_s031000/

(I did not manage to post a screenshot here)

I guess that I will have to renew only 3 paid plugins (Members Types Pro, Badges, Groups Tabs) because my site would not work without, and forget the other plugins.

It’s a bit complicated if one has to “buy” (instead of simply renewing), each year, manually, for each plugin…

And it’s difficult to know when to buy. Maybe when a plugin will start to fail (which is uneasy to know, because if the site goes wrong, I will have to deactivate the plugins one by one (there are more than 80) in the hope to find the culprit. But maybe I will start with the BuddyDev plugins then.

The annual membership is really too much expensive for benevolent people who don’t earn a cent from their sites…

    Thanks anyway…

    Hello and thanks…

So I assume that I have to pay each year for each plugin everytime it will become too old to work…

I did not expect that… Time goes very fast, and in one year, I did not yet really manage to setup a site with users. A few ones came, a few times.

It would be impossible for me to pay each year all those premium plugins…
I went to your site, trying to find a link to extend the licenses, maybe at a reduced price (like some others do), but I did not find.

Eric LUCAS on in reply to: Issues With BuddyBlog and also with Moderation Tools #33120

    Hello and thanks for BuddyBlog.

    I have various troubles.

1/ Many settings are very similar, or even identical, in BuddyBlog settings and in Group Blog Category settings, then how to choose ?

2/ The permalinks of the posts don’t have the full path, it’s like site.com/name-of-post so it’s very difficult to figure in which category the post is…

3/ I can’t manage to reduce the sizes of the featured images (while normally it’s automatically reduced to 250×250 px for exemple). You can see here that it is very ugly : https://autistance.org/category/group-blogs/

4/ I cannot manage to change the position of the “Blog” tab in the BP Groups primary nav, with Group Tab Creator Pro (which works well for all the rest), whatever I try, the “Blog” will always be on first position, but I want it in second position.
And also, I’ve set a CSS class that I named “external” to have this tab opening in a new window (which usually works well) but it does not work.

5/ And also, I would like to know how, when a new Post (or Group Post) is published, to have an activity published in the BP Group Activity (and / or in the Site-Wide Activity) if possible.

    Thank you.

Eric LUCAS on in reply to: [Resolved] BuddyPress Moderation Tools #29398

Hello, I would like to know if there is a simple way to prevent users (except super admin and maybe other roles) from posting in the sitewide activity and/or in the group activity.

I’ve seen “BuddyPress Moderation Tools” but unfortunately I don’t have enough money for that and I don’t need all these features.
I just want to avoid that anyone posts any kind of crap after registering easily just with a click on the facebook button for example.

    Thanks !

And also I would like to know if there is a plugin allowing to have some sort of “user bar” with a dropdown menu in the upper right corner, like here at BuddyDev.com and in so many other sites. Thanks a lot.

    Hello, about this plugin :

    – The page presenting this plugin here on buddydev.com is always freezing, and I had to go to https://de.wordpress.org/plugins/limit-groups-per-user/ in order to read what it does.

    – Maybe this plugin is not enough up to date (cf. WordPress warning)

    – If it is still working : fine, but I would like to know if you can add an option in order to force the users to create only Hidden groups (and they would not be able to change that).
In fact, I just want to allow two roles to create only one hidden group (per user), period (no need of further settings). Maybe it’s possible to do that with some lines of code ?

    Thanks a lot !
