    Thanks for your reply. it should be specific to user.

    Anyway, I found a compromised approach which is based on user roles. My approach is to create a new user role and assign it as additional user role to this specific user. So, basically only this user has this user role, the notice is assigned to this user role but in this scenario, it equals only this user can see this message.

    I think what I want is

    1. Upgrade WP and all plugins version;

    2. Implement a new theme;

    3. Keep all existing user profiles (avatars) and messages.

    So, in order to accomplish these three above, can you give me a safer and suitable approach?

    Sorry to reply you late. I think the issue is happened with user names with hyphen. I tested it several times, for example, if I created a account with “Demo User”, the system will automatically add a hyphen as @demo-user. If this happened, the recipient issue will occur.

    So, could you check the hyphen thing for me please?
