Thank you for sharing the details.
1. You have added the class to the menu item correctly and I can check that.
2. As suggested, you need to add the following
.bp-login aafter putting a comma after the existing selectors in the “Login” panel selector option. If you do it. It will work.
Currently, It is not there,

Please open PhpMyAdmin and search for “bp_xprofile_fields”. There will be a table name similar to it(with some prefix).
You can edit the description there.
I did not advise code solution as it is a one time thing.

Hi Mike,
Please edit the nav item and remove the ‘bp-signup’ class from it.Please add ‘bp-login’ to it. The please visit Settings->BuddyPress Ajax Registration->Login and add it like ‘, .bp-login a’
That should fix it.
