Hi Michaël,
The update is available now.
Please upgrade to 2.0.0 and then you can set it for each role from Dashboard->Settings->Limit Groups Per User.

Hi Matt,
You most probably have a custom loop for showing the member type above name. My sggestion will be to look at your members-loop.php and see why this is happening.
BuddyPress member types pro does not add it.

A. Yes, Members directory is a feature of BuddyPress and has no dependency on any plugin.
B. You only need to create a tab if you want the User profile links to have a new tab which links to your members directory.
