I have tested the plugin with BuddyBoss platform and Redis Cache plugin. It works well. I am logged in automatically.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/redis-cache/The CDN can not cause the issue. It is most probably page caching. Please check with server support for how their caching can be flushed and let me know if they have any specific suggestion.

I also suggest adding link text such as
'link_text' => __('Send a private message.', 'buddypress'),to make link text appear correctly.

Please provide screenshot to clarify the context. If you are referring to WordPress nav menu, we do not provide any way to have counter there. If you are referring to BuddyPress profile abs/nav, then we do.
