Thank you for using the plugin.
It seems you are using the trigger “On Registration” to add friends. I will suggest using Activation trigger instead.
The issue is BuddyPress/BuddyBoss will not list a member f they have not logged to the site at least once(except when viewing alphabetically).

The tab acts as just any other tab.
If you want to get a dynamic link for current’ user’s own tab, BuddyPress/BuddyBoss provides a shortcut http://your-site.com/members-directory-slug/me/
e.g http://example.com/members/me/ you can append the tab slug after it.
