The settings is defined in php.ini and if you have VPS, you can control it. Most of the webhosts(even shared hosts), allow you to change it.

We already developed this a few months ago but did not release as we wanted to pack it with our upcoming activity related module. We can make this functionality available next week as a small plugin which can be later replaced by our activity module.
